Sinéad Carey, Dublin Water, recently represented ByrneLooby as an industry judge at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) Bachelor of Engineering poster competition. Each student presented a poster outlining the findings of their final year research project, after which the judges had the opportunity to ask questions. Project topics were varied, spanning both civil and structural disciplines, with the overall winning projects considering scour at bridge abutments and the feasibility of micro-power in Irish watermains.
DIT is currently in the process of establishing formal internships for its Bachelor of Engineering students and it is hoped that ByrneLooby can further strengthen its links with the college by participating in this program in the future. In the meantime, Dublin Water is due to welcome an upcoming DIT graduate to its team later this summer.
