The Use Of 3D Modelling & Virtual Reality In Architectural Design - ByrneLooby International Engineering Design Consultancy

Written by Byrne Looby | 21 March 2019

During our March Seminar, ByrneLooby in London, welcomed Dan Slavinsky, Project Director at Simon Bowden Architecture to present.

Dan’s specialism spans a range of sectors from residential, mixed use, workplace and commercial buildings and has been an integral part in helping Simon Bowden Architecture develop a reputation for successfully steering large and complex projects in London. These include; Marylebone Square – a 250,000 sq ft prime residential scheme in Westminster and the refurbishment of a Grade 1 listed casino in Mayfair.

Simon Bowden Architecture was established in 2011. Since then it has grown steadily relying heavily on 3D technology such as printing, animations and virtual reality. These have proven to be very effective design tools, especially in a world where there is more pressure to design quickly and to communicate ideas in an interactive way.

In this seminar, Dan discussed his experience using 3D software and where he thinks the technology may be taking the industry in the near future. He also gave an introduction to the company’s architectural portfolio and philosophy, demonstrated how Simon Bowden use 3D technologies to communicate ideas and space, the use ofVirtual Reality as a design tool, prototyping, modelling and animations and looking ahead to how 3D technology might be used in the construction industry in the future.
