ByrneLooby, Ayesa secures 3-year contract with UK Environment Agency for training

ByrneLooby, Ayesa secures 3-year contract with UK Environment Agency for training

ByrneLooby proud to be a training partner for the UK Environment Agency

News Release: 21 July 2022
We are delighted to announce we have been awarded a contract to provide training services in Advanced Landfill Engineering for the UK’s Environment Agency over the next three years. The Environmental Services team based at St. Helen's office has worked regularly with the Environment Agency over the past decade to provide their staff with training in the geotechnics of landfill engineering, geosynthetics design and practical installation of both mineral and geosynthetic liners.

The training programme supports the development of EA’s staff and their goal to provide best-in-class regulation for environmental protection. The 5-day training course covers a wide range of topics including earthworks engineering and geotechnical risk assessments, design of composite containment liners, use of geosynthetics for liner protection and drainage and a practical session demonstrating the welding and testing of geosynthetic liners.

John Martin, Director of Environmental Services at ByrneLooby, Ayesa said:

"We are delighted to have been appointed to provide this training to the EA to support them in achieving their goals to achieve a better place for the environment. Training is an important part of ensuring landfills are designed, constructed and capped in line with EA protocols. Our courses are presented by industry-leading experts with decades of experience in their field who are able to pass on their knowledge to a younger generation.

Experts in Landfill engineering ByrneLooby, an Ayesa company are international leaders in landfill engineering and have supported and delivered some of the largest and most complex landfill development projects around the world for the past two decades.

This includes the 18 million cubic metre capacity, triple-landfill complex at Oman's Sohar Industrial Waste Handling and Treatment Facility (IWHTF), their national hazardous waste management facility. On this and many other projects, we have provided extensive multidisciplinary inputs, including; site investigations, monitoring, geotechnical & groundwater risk assessments, master planning, surface water management, earthworks design, geosynthetics design, and detailed design and preparation of contract specifications. We also design landfill gas and leachate management systems. Following the design phase and securing regulatory permits we support our clients during construction, providing expert resident engineer, CQA and verification services.
