Estates and Country Homes

Preserving Timeless Heritage - Estates and Country Homes

Our award-winning, multi-disciplinary practice has over 50 years experience advising historic building owners, architects, engineers and developers on the conservation and adaptation of heritage buildings and landscapes to international best-practice standards.  Our aim is to breathe new life into country homes and estates.  Restoration and regeneration of country homes and estates often present structural challenges and require extensive repair works spanning many different areas, including foundations, walls, historic masonry, stairways, turrets, metal piling, steel frames, ornamental stonework, intricate scaffolding and supporting structures.  Our conservation engineering consultants treat each conservation and restoration project individually. Our project portfolio expresses the artisan services we deliver, defined by detailed research, care and precise attention to detail.

Langley Park House - Our team worked with Brookfield Multiplex and Gibberd Architects on the renewal, renovation and conversion of the estate from its most recent use as offices into a stunning 5-star hotel. Ayesa provided complete structural engineering and conservation design for this impressive project, delivering a winter garden and stunning event spaces that compliment the fabric of this impressive Grade II* listed 18th-century house and estate,

Halton House - Built for Alfred De Rothschild in 1883, Halton House is a Listed Grade II* country house in the Chiltern Hills above the village of Halton in Buckinghamshire, England. The house has served as the officer’s mess for the Royal Air force, (RAF).  Since 1918,  Halton has continued to date largely with the interior unaltered.  Recent concerns were raised about the timber, wrought iron-framed and lead-covered Belvedere on the roof.  We were engaged to investigate the damage and to prepare comprehensive working drawings for its dismantling repair and reconstruction. Our work involved meticulous analysis of the early steel framing, planning for its offsite repair, and its reconstruction on-site back to the original profile but incorporating additional waterproofing and ventilation detailing.

Bramshill House, in Bramshill, is a Grade I listed building located in northeast Hampshire and one of the largest and most significant Jacobean prodigy house mansions in England.  We advised on all structural work from demolitions and alterations to the detailed structural repairs on the complex roofs, including detailed new floor framings, stairs, lift and service ducts.  We provided structural engineering design to construct a fully accessible reinforced concrete service culvert with a boiler room and extensive fuel stove concealed behind the courtyard's existing walls.  We also advised on outbuildings and historical features in the surrounding park.
