Rapid response to track stabilisation and repair works by Ayesa wins client praise

Last week the Ayesa team played a major part in stabilising an embankment slip on the Chiltern Main Line with repair works commencing on 15th January 2024. Our collaboration with Principal Contractor J Murphy & Sons and associated sub-contractors proved decisive, swiftly stepping in to assist Network Rail. Despite affecting only one track, the line had to be temporarily closed for a comprehensive repair, causing a temporary disruption.
The project team comprising Network Rail, Murphy, Ayesa - UK and Ireland, SG Elite Ltd, SEP Rail Services , LAND RECOVERY RAIL LIMITED, and MGF, acted decisively to ensure the safety of the line. Despite affecting only one track, the line had to be temporarily closed for a comprehensive repair, causing a temporary disruption.

Working into the evening and through the weekend, Ayesa played a lead role in developing a remedial design that was both robust and quick to install. The emergency solution that was implemented comprised the installation of a 40-meter-long wall, consisting of 65 steel sheet piles and 300 tonnes of ballast to reinstate the track bed. The team worked around the clock during an emergency 48-hour blockade of the railway to complete these works.
