Chester Terrace

Chester Terrace

No. 41 and No. 42, Chester Terrace are both Grade I listed buildings. These buildings were built in 1825, by a highly recognised innovative Architect, John Nash, as part of a ten year long development of the Regent’s Park Terraces. The Regent’s Park Terraces development are still owned by The Crown Estate. When viewed from the park, No. 41 and No. 42 combine to form what appears to be a substantial single house. The property is four storeys which includes a traditional construction of a basement.

Our Role

Our team of Conservation experts at Ayesa London, were appointed to provide Construction Engineering Advice on retaining the historic fabric of the external elevation walls and the principle alterations which comprise of: Linking the semi detached houses to form a single residential property. Ayesa London advised to remove the 1960’s staircase and lift shafts, in replacement of a new cantilever stone stair and single lift shaft.
The removal of the 1960’s floor construction was replaced with new floors. Lowering the front basement vaults was advised to provide improved headroom. The reconstruction of the 1960’s subterranean room extension, at No. 42 and the chiller compound at No. 41, was advised to suit the new landscape design and as a consequence of the defective brickwork, construction of a new subterranean extension below the garden.
