St. George's Hanover Square

St. George's Hanover Square

St. George's Hanover Square is a splendid Grade I church, which was designed by John James and opened in 1727. Working with the church architect, Colin Kerr of Molyneux Kerr on repairs and improvements to the interior, Ayesa London provided conservation engineering advice on the Church. The roof and ceiling timbers were checked and discreet strengthening carried out where necessary. Fractures in the north wall were repaired.

Our Role

Our team of experts at Ayesa London, not only provided conservation engineering advice, but also, were appointed to produce working drawings and details for a new access to the original undercroft.

Excavating the strip of land between the church and the adjoining buildings, allowed for the development and creation of a new part basement, a lift shaft and a new lobby entrance all within the required space. An original stone stair was re-arranged with a doorway opened at mid-height. The architects were Thomas Ford & Partners in succession to Molyneux Kerr.
